I’m Lucy Mackintosh a personal trainer based on the Dorset/Somerset border, helping clients build strength, lose fat, and improve overall fitness through tailored training and practical nutrition guidance.
Drawing from my own rehabilitation following serious injury, I bring an empathetic, supportive approach, backed by years of hands on experience and learning from some of the UK’s top personal trainers.
Sessions are designed around you, either in training venues or the comfort of your own home. Weather depending we may train outdoors.
I persevered to get to full strength, I didn’t want my accident to define me
Determined to prove them wrong. With the support of brilliant physiotherapists, I committed to an intense rehabilitation programme. Youth and fitness were on my side, and just months later I was able to walk out of hospital.
THE Story
With a sports scholarship to Millfield School Somerset, success as a runner, and a career as a female jump jockey, I was on my journey of a career in sport.
This came to an abrupt end in 2006 after a fall at a race meeting and suffering serious head injuries, with doctors uncertain whether I would walk again, I was determined to prove them wrong.
My confidence was shattered, I could no longer do the things I could before and along the way I gained a fair bit of weight. With my basic knowledge I tried everything to shift the excess, my usual “jockey’s mentality” ways of dieting (unhealthily starving myself) and exercise weren’t working.
I started arduous running as soon as I had strength in both legs, this didn’t work. After studying the hormonal system, I now know that this was because running is counter productive and ultimately leads to further fat gain.
Drawing from my own experiences I appreciate the importance of fitness and health. My studies informed the achievement of my own goals, and inspired to offer a helping hand to others with their own fitness goals, fat-loss and injury rehabilitation.
This journey led to further studies, continued Personal Training, and the founding of bodyformat.
